Driven by compassion and relentless advocacy for her clients, Julia Stancil is an exceptionally experienced criminal defense attorney. Throughout her years of practice, Julia has developed in-depth experience at every stage of the trial process and for a vast range of criminal defense cases. She has consistently succeeded in securing acquittals, case dismissals, and other favorable outcomes including mitigated sentences.

Over her more than 13 years in practice, Julia has served as lead counsel in more than 70 criminal jury trials – most resulting in full acquittal or convictions on lesser charges. Her philosophy is that being prepared and not afraid to litigate is the best way to achieve a dismissal or other favorable resolution. Julia’s focus in each case is on the individual client, and she has a track record of success securing favorable outcomes for clients in a full range of criminal cases.

Nearly all of Julia’s legal experience has been in courtroom defense. She began her career as a senior deputy public defender practicing in Denver, Boulder, and Broomfield Counties for nearly nine years. During her tenure as a public defender, Julia was lead defense counsel for a full range of felonies including first-degree murder, complex sexual assault, intricate economic crime cases, internet sex crimes, offenses involving child abuse and sexual assaults on children, DUI and traffic cases, and habitual criminal charges.

Julia’s work has also expanded into additional jurisdictions. Through her work with the public defender’s office, she also gained experience practicing in Federal District Court in Denver, Grand Junction, and Casper, Wyoming. In addition to her vast criminal defense background, Julia has also taken her courtroom litigation skills into the family courts to defend motions for permanent protective orders, motions to restrict parenting time, and motions to modify parental decision-making. High conflict family cases are often related to criminal accusations, and Julia believes it is highly advantageous to have one law firm handle these concurrent issues as they arise.

Julia's wealth of trial and litigation experience coupled with her compassion and tireless support for her clients makes her a standout attorney.
