For more than 25 years, Ty has been energetically litigating cases across a broad range of subject areas, representing diverse clients seeking justice in the federal and state civil and criminal justice systems.

His areas of practice include the prosecution and defense of civil lawsuits, defense of those accused of crimes, and civil and criminal appeals.

His criminal and post-conviction cases have involved the defense of a wide range of criminal charges, including fraud; espionage and terrorism, murder; child pornography; contempt; drug manufacture and distribution; terrorism laws; murder; Colorado Organized Crime Control Act; and securities and mortgage crimes.

He has extensive experience in complex and general civil litigation spanning diverse areas of the law: business and contract disputes, legal malpractice, internal corporate investigations and audits, consumer protection, intellectual property, school disciplinary actions, civil rights, collections, abusive litigation, municipal law, state and federal racketeering laws, state and federal constitutional law, defamation, voting rights and election laws, fraud, canonical law, and the federal False Claims Act.

Ty has received the highest Martindale-Hubbell peer-reviewed rating, AV® Preeminent, and has been named a Super Lawyer for multiple years.

Ty is an active member of the community. He was appointed by majority vote of the Governor, Chief Justice and Attorney General to represent the Second Congressional District as a member of the Colorado Supreme Court Nominating Commission. He was elected to serve on the Louisville Home Rule Charter Commission. He has taken on numerous cases in cooperation with the American Civil Liberties Union and the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar.
